Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose : To estimate the future of the Korean Society for Hyperthermia & Oncology,
the author reviewed the past and present status of the society.
Past History : The Korean Society for Hyperthermia & Oncology was istablished on
September. 3rd, 1994 with 93 members. In spite of short history, we already had 3 times
of special lectures, 2 times of international symposiums, and 2 times of annual meetings,
which are very active academic activities, compare with the other societies.
Present Status : The Korean Society for Hyperthermia & Oncology has 304 members
on April. 1997. In 7th International Congress of Hyperthermia & Oncology, Rome, on
April. 1996, Korea was elected as the host country for yr. 2000 International Congress
and M.S. Kim was elected as the president for yr. 2000 International Congress. These
are very honorable not only for me and our society, but also for our country, Korea.
Future : Yr. 2000 International Congress will be the great event which we should
Perform successfully. We should do our best for successful yr. 2000 meeting with good
cooperation with many other international members.
In academic field, hyperthermia should be a major treatment modality for cancer
treatment and should be applicable for even benign diseases, such as benign prostatic
disease, arthritis and other non-oncologic diseases.
To estimate the future of the Korean Society for Hyperthermia & Oncology, the past
history and present status should be analyzed.
